Art/craft plaster figure produced in Colonia Libertad in collaboration with Victor Toscano, a well-known plaster figure manufacturer from the neighborhood. The plaster figurine industry was, for many years, an important source of revenue for Colonia Libertad until copyright laws were enforced at the border diminishing its production. The icon is a replica of one of the sketches of Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi in which the pedestal is designed as a pre-Columbian pyramid. The pieces are sold as “curios” in the border and displayed in art galleries and museums.
